So as Brian and I tend to do just about every other day we were hiking up Black Mountain. We usually go around 4pm and generally there isn’t too much excitement involving wildlife. Occasionally we will see a bunny and we always see some incredible birds but this time was different. This time Brain and I were walking along and enjoying the views when we saw a guy just stopped in the middle of the pathway playing with his phone. I looked at Brian somewhat surprised, Friday’s are generally very dead on the mountain. When we got closer the guy told us there was a snake in the bush. I, of course, couldn’t contain myself; I LOVE snakes. So this picture is the result of meeting said snake, now known as Hans Solo. Hans Solo was about 4ft long and was making an odd noise that I wasn’t sure if it was rattling or hissing, regardless we decided to leave him alone and continue on our hike. When we finally made our way down the mountain, the snake was gone.
But hey, at least it wasn’t another Opossum. Tricksy Opossumses.
NOTE: It’s important to remember that wild animals are Dangerous. They should be given plenty of space and a lot of respect. If you decide to go hiking in ANY area, please be aware of your surroundings and the habitat and leave only your foot prints behind!!!! If you bring a Dog with you PLEASE clean up after your animal and if you are in an area where there are Rattle Snakes make absolutely sure that your dog has it’s shots all up-to-date, Snake Venom can be VERY VERY dangerous for dogs.
